Among Us, cake, and one big wish
A kid's birthday party themed around Among Us. Two hours of controlled chaos — costumes, piñata, cake, and one wish that mattered more than the rest.

Kids' birthday parties are a different kind of event shoot. No schedule. No itinerary. Someone is always crying, someone else is always running, and the cake is always five minutes later than announced.
This one was Among Us themed — which means there was a man in a full yellow crewmate costume, a kid in a pink one, and a crown taped to a hoodie that kept slipping off. Dima was turning eight. He had a cake bigger than his head and a piñata made of black streamers that took him forty seconds to destroy.

My job on days like this is to stay out of the way. No posed group shots, no "look at the camera." Just follow the chaos and wait for the real ones — the wish being made with eyes squeezed shut, the sister twirling in a pink tutu, the moment a dad quietly helped his daughter at the craft table while everyone else was screaming at the piñata.

Two hours of controlled mayhem. I came back with photos of a childhood that's happening right now — not memories posed for later.
